Use Google Drive to edit Microsoft Office Files

About: If you are on a computer that does not have Microsoft Office or if you'd like to edit Office files in your web browser, check out the steps below.


Upload your Microsoft Office file to Google Drive

  1. Open drive.google.com in your web browser
  2. Click New > File Upload > Select your Office file and upload.

Double click your Office file in Google Drive to open it

When you upload an Office file to Drive, you'll see it shown with a icon like below. You can easily tell the difference between an Office file and a Google file.

Double click any file in your Google Drive to open it.



Edit / Print / Download the file as needed

Now that you have your Office file opened in your web browser, you can view or edit it just like you can in Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.

If you need to print click File > Print.
