Troubleshoot power issues on Lenovo Laptops

About: If your Lenovo laptop is not powering on, try the steps below.

 

Disconnect the laptop from power

 

Removed the battery from the laptop

Slide the clips to unlock the battery, then slide the battery out towards the back of the laptop.
 

Get a paperclip, and insert it in the emergency power reset hole

  1. On the underside of the laptop, locate the emergency power reset hole shown below.
  2. Insert the paper clip in to this hole for 5 seconds, then remove the paper clip.


 

Reinsert the battery and connect the laptop to power


Power on the laptop

Push the power button to turn the laptop on. You should see lights and the laptop should boot.
