Recover a missing file from Google Drive



Open Google Drive

Go to  drive.google.com  in your web browser

Find the folder where the file / folder was last saved


Inspect the folder

1.  Click the folder one time to select it - it will be highlighted in light blue.
2. Next. click   to view more information about the folder selected.
3. Click the Activity pane. Here you can view all changes made inside of this folder starting with the most recent changes at the top.




Locate the file / folder

1. Look in the Activity pane for files being moved to the Trash .
2. Click the Magnifying Glass icon to locate the file. This will take you to your Trash .



Recover the file / folder

Right click the file in the Trash then click Restore .



The file will be restored to it's original location. If the folder where the file / folder is missing is not owned by you, you will need to share these instructions with the Owner of the folder and have them follow the same steps. You can find the owner of any file or folder on the Details pane.
